The year of the Rat started with a triple celebrations at the Teochew City Seafood Restaurant in Centre Point. Ninety members and their families were gathered to celebrate:
- the Lunar New Year
- the 15th Anniversary of the Seng Clan Association
- the birthday of Vice-President Seng Kok How's son
The dinner was graced by the Guest-of-Honour Mr Seng Han Thong, MP for Yio Chu Kang.
In his speech, the President Mr Seng Joo How said that this year' celebration was different in three ways. Firstly, the dinner was held in a posh Orchard Road restaurant with better ambiance and good food. Secondly, the number of tables was more manageable and the gathering felt closer. Thirdly, the atmosphere was more informal.
Mr Seng Joo How also thanked all members for their support and encouragement. He announced that he would not be standing for re-election as he wanted to hand over the baton to a younger member. However, he would still be around to give his support and guidance.
The night ended at 9.30 pm with fond memories and renewed enthusiasm.
